The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Critical Role Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It features our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures such as the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, Fjord.

All in all, the intro appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the song choice.

The intro employs "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition created by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece from the official score of that title, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will appreciate its inclusion.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that was part of the show's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in that year, and it improved further when co-founder the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the second campaign yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The show's intro with "the new song" doesn't strike the same chords in my opinion. It's a grand piece of music, but from what I know of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, Critical Role has stated that the series will have a few changes and differences from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro appears as among these.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or want a head start to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
