The Manager's Position on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss described Celtic as "a really big football club" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"There have been any of those discussions," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any part of my focus is currently.

"I possess a special job here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial stage of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness."

Background and Agreement Details

It has been suggested that McKenna would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "I don't think all people has to publicly and declare what they used to be, but of course it's a massive sports organization."

The coach agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I approach this job like I'll be Ipswich manager indefinitely. I understand that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I will consistently do my best as long as I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

Bellamy represented the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the ex- Wales striker is inclined to finish the current World Cup qualification, a stance that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers Belgium and second-placed North Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would secure their position in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of making those, due to a productive European competition campaign, should they not finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his current position, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after the European Championship, would not be available until after the play-offs at the minimum.
