The country's energy systems have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were hurt while local people in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes struck power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.
