Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their first Fall Classic since the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the ALCS.

Down 3-1, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three win in the seven-game series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, the nation," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now hit 23 playoff homers, ranking him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another person anywhere that I want up in that spot besides Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their work throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the wrong side of this game," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
