Analysts Detect Kremlin Scare Operation Targeting Cruise Missile Use

Moscow is conducting a strategic manipulation operation of intimidations to prevent the America from supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukrainian forces, according to military analysts. A senior official remarked: “We understand these projectiles very well, their operational characteristics, defensive countermeasures, we worked on them in the Syrian conflict, so there is nothing new. Only those who supply them and the operators will encounter difficulties … We will develop strategies to target those who oppose our interests.”

Kyiv's Military Push Developments

Ukrainian forces were inflicting heavy losses in a counteroffensive in eastern Ukraine, the war's main theatre, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday. Kyiv's report, derived from a briefing from his top commander, contrasted with Vladimir Putin's speech before senior Russian officers a day earlier in which he asserted the invading army maintained the military advantage in every combat zone.

Based on evaluation dated early October, military analysts said Russia was incurring heavy casualty rates, especially due to Ukrainian drone attacks, in exchange for limited tactical advances. Kyiv's troops, Zelenskyy said, were “defending ourselves along multiple fronts”, highlighting especially the Kupiansk area, a heavily damaged town in the northeastern front under heavy Russian assaults for several months.

Area Situations

Local authorities in southern Ukraine of the Kherson oblast said Russian attacks on midweek killed three people in and around the city of the oblast center. The governor of the Sumy oblast, on the northern frontier with the Russian Federation, said three individuals were killed in UAV assaults in various areas. Ukrainian aerial defense said it successfully countered 154 out of 183 Russian strike and decoy drones during the night.

An offensive strike seriously damaged one of Ukraine's thermal power plants, officials reported on midweek. Facility personnel were harmed during the strike, according to power utility representatives. Officials offered limited details, about the site's whereabouts, but government officials said strikes hit critical utilities in the Chernihiv region, the Kherson area and the Dnipropetrovsk area.

Humanitarian Consequences

In the north-eastern Sumy town of the Shostka area, severely affected by the military campaign against the power supply, local government has established temporary shelters where people can warm up, receive warm beverages, maintain communication capability and receive psychological support, based on information from regional head.

International Measures

Ukraine's ambassador to Nato on Wednesday called on NATO members to step up purchases of American military equipment for Ukrainian forces. “This doesn't mean we prioritize US equipment over French or German or alternative military systems – the issue is that we are asking the US for weapons which European countries are unable to supply,” said the diplomatic representative.

German federal police will soon be allowed to neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles, interior minister said on Wednesday, after a spate of unmanned aircraft incidents believed to be Russian efforts to spy and intimidate. Unveiling a draft law, the representative said police would be authorized “to implement sophisticated countermeasures against drone threats, such as EMP technology, jamming, satellite signal blocking, but also with kinetic methods”.

Regional Security Concerns

European leader said on Wednesday that EU nations need to strengthen its defenses to respond to Moscow's multifaceted attacks after air incursions, cyber-attacks and damage to undersea cables. “These aren't random harassment. It is a organized and growing strategy,” the representative said in a presentation to the European parliament. “A couple of events are isolated incidents, but multiple, repeated, numerous – that represents a deliberate and targeted ambiguous warfare operation against the European Union, and Europe must respond.”

Humanitarian Conditions

The Swiss government has prolonged its protection status provided to people fleeing Ukraine to at least March 2027. Humanitarian status, which enables individuals to travel abroad as well as seek employment there, is generally limited to twelve months but can be renewed. “The ruling reflects the continued unstable environment and ongoing military actions across extensive regions of the country,” said a federal announcement. “Regardless of worldwide negotiation attempts, a lasting stabilisation that would allow for secure repatriation is not expected in the medium term.”
